| Honoring the three Heroes of Marabut |
At the outset, let me extend my best wishes and sincerest greetings to all my constituents and fellow Marabutnon on the occasion of 62nd Founding Anniversary of Marabut, Samar. To add luster to our festivities, we have lined up service-oriented activities like, mass wedding, and free birth registration, literary and oratorical contest, free medical and dental mission, job fair, blood-letting and other sports competitions. All these activities were made possible through unity and active cooperation of all concerned officials and personalities with the end view of honoring our three legendary heroes, who made history of our town. These three personalities, who are instrumental in the creation of Marabut out of mother municipality of Basey, are Mauricio Amantillo, Engraciio Amantillo and Isidoro Ferreras.

Remembering the past and origin of our history is a worthwhile task in order to renew and embrace our culture, heritage, tradition, resources and its people. It gives us a sense of pride and awareness of what we are. This occasion is a reminder of our glorious past, for it brings to mind the rich culture, beauty, potential and wonders or our beloved town.

To re-examine our past will enable us to discover our mistakes and causes of our shortcomings why the development of our town had been moving so slow despite our vast natural resources and availability of local manpower. The present Local administration is committed to institute innovative economic, social and political reforms to bring this town on the right direction toward comprehensive development. This tow, owning to its vast tract of land, has the potential to become a producer of various agricultural products, thereby providing livelihood and increase income of our farmers. The LGU Marabut has embarked agricultural intensification program by extending technical and logistic support to our farmers.

Marabut has her share of nature's beauty. Among the nature's jewels which enchantingly lure tourists and local folks includes the unexplored caves, limestone rock formation, pristine shores rimmed by unspoiled coral reefs and other scenery spots. In our desire to promote tourism industry, this administration has launched a Tourism Program dubbed as Flagship Project of the Municipality of Marabut. To provide more strength to the said project, the Municipal Mayor crafted a Marabut Tourism Master Plan which was adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan. This instrument is comprehensive enough to serve as guide towards sustainability of Marabut tourism Program. With the establishment of beach resorts, construction of tourism-related facilities and value orientation towards tourism of the constituents, Marabut shall become a prime eco-tourist destination in the region. In a way, tourism becomes an engine of economic growth of Marabut. It encompasses everything and all economic activities and livelihood that produce income are related to tourism.

Within the span of more than one (1) year, after my assumption to office last July 1, 2010, a lot of major infrastructure projects have been put in place. A concrete Farm to Market Road was constructed in Barangay San Roque connecting the Barangay proper and irrigated rice field. Municipal Jail and Office of Bureau of Fire Protection were completed in Poblacion Marabut, Samar. Covered Court at Brgy. Canyoyo is now under construction and the Municipal Public Cemetery is being developed at Brgy. Amantillo.
A newly acquired dump truck is due to arrive on the 4th week of September 2011 which will be used to sustain garbage collection within the Municipality. Several school buildings were constructed by the National Government through the efforts of the Local Chief Executive.

The present local leadership is pursuing a strong municipality a safer place to live in with an empowered and self-reliant people who are god-loving, law abiding and committed to growth and protection of the environment.
With the overwhelming support of my constituents and the impressive outcome of attendance of participants, I hope that this celebration will become an affair to remember in the history or our beloved Municipality of Marabut. "USWAG MARABUT!" Back...
